Things to do
An abundance of experiences
Dodges Ferry and the surrounding Southern Beaches community offers an abundance of experiences, depending on what tickle's your fancy!
Dodges Ferry is surrounded by beaches, with one of the most popular boat ramps in Southern Tasmania where you can look straight across to the sand dunes at Seven Mile Beach, and if the wind is blowing on one beach you can quickly move to another for some sheltered swimming. At both ends of Carlton Beach you will find surf spots – one end has the Carlton River mouth and the other more popular position is Park Beach where the Jack's Nest Tasmanian holiday house is located.
The Port Arthur historical site is just 45mins drive South of Dodges Ferry along the Port Arthur Highway. If you are heading this way be sure to drop into the Port Arthur Lavender farm on the way – for a meal or some unique lavender treats!
There are several wineries located in the surrounding region also – so be sure to get out and taste some fresh oysters and wine during your stay.
